Like every Disney love story, this fairytale begins with an unlikely couple who, against all odds, met, fell in love, were forced to be apart due to circumstances outside their control, and then finally find their happily ever after. And yes, there is a castle involved!
A Springdale native and University of Arkansas student, Mary Alberts decided in August of 2014 to leave her Arkansas roots and travel to the most magical place on earth. She started the Disney College Program at Disney World in Orlando, Florida where a dashing Aussie intern named Rodney (or Prince Charming - as we like to refer to him) awaited her and swiftly swept her off her feet. The two world travelers instantly felt a love connection and became an item faster than you can say "Abracadabra!"
When the year-long Disney program was over, the lovebirds traveled the U.S. together with Mary's parents before Prince Charming had to say farewell and return to the land down under. About six months later, Rodney sailed the skies across the globe to see his beloved during the holidays. They took a trip together back to where it all began, the Disney Castle. While under the spell of the Magical Kingdom, Rodney asked Mary to be his forever princess.
A year later, the adorable duo said "I do" at one of Northwest Arkansas' most enchanting venues, The Ravington, surrounded by friends and family from all over the world. Eugene Grace Weddings had the great pleasure of capturing all the love and magic in this fairytale wedding.
Reflecting on her relationship with Rodney and the events of her special day, Mary noted, "What was crazy to me is the amount of adventures and travels we got to have together in only two years. We've been to so many different places in the States and Australia and had so many great experiences. They say the best way to know how compatible you are with someone is to travel with them, and I believe it. We are each other's best friend, and the only person we never tire of being with.
"The wedding was so gorgeous, and it was amazing to see the families from all different cultures. Rodney's family is Assyrian, and he had family come in from Australia, California and Chicago. We weren't sure how his family's culture would mesh with mine, but they all got along so well, which was a blessing.
"One of my favorite parts of the ceremony was when Rodney's family started doing their traditional Assyrian dancing during the reception, and my friends and family jumped right in with them.
"When I was throwing my bouquet, it got caught in the chandelier, so the girls had to do a cheerleading style stunt for someone to be able to reach it. It was so funny!"
The couple are living their happily ever after in Rodney's home country of Australia, and we would say "The End" but we know this is only the beginning for this beautiful bride and groom!
